Completed in 2023 after a three-year effort started during COVID, this project turned a neglected yard into a safe, attractive outdoor home for people and plants. The owners had bought the house and begun major renovation: we removed unsafe, unattractive walls, steps, and a rear deck and installed an IPE timber deck and a separate screened porch, preserving mature trees and natural grade changes.
Our design kept existing trees and slopes, creating a clear, welcoming path to the house. The property once had two vehicle entrances (a visitor circular drive and a private garage approach), so guests rarely used the front door. We redesigned the entry to be safe and obvious, adding a defined pedestrian route, LED lighting throughout, and restored antique gas coach lights on the entrance pillars for character. New woodland plantings and specimen trees were added; over time the garden will mature and become the home’s new foreground.
The existing gas lanterns were restored by ‘Brennan Stained Glass’ and added to our entrance pillar as well as to the entrance walls, antique glass and retrofitted led bulbs complete the look.
